Buried Gungahlin Cemetery Mitchell, Family Estate on 26 SEP 2025 Portion Number 18, Section 5 Block 20, Allotment 5 Funeral Service held at Page Catholic Church, Belconnen. Born to a humble family in the farming village of San Guillermo (also known as Catuguing) on the 22 November, 1961 in the Philippine province of Ilocos Norte. Parents are Rodrigo Sr. and Narcisa SAOIT nee Rumbaoa. She is the youngest of 5 children, 3 brothers, one of them deceased, and a sister. Early education was in Catuguing Elementary School and she graduated as Valedictorian. She attended her secondary school at Ilocos Norte National High School in Laoag. After high school she studied at the Philippine School Of Business Administration in Manila finishing with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. In 1987 she married Darrel Kearns, an Australian who was a computer programmer. That same year she moved to Australia to join Darrel. They were blessed with 2 children. Tristan Paul who is a software engineer and Alana Crystal who graduated as a lawyer. With Anabels education and perseverance and commitment she gained emplyment as an Australian Commonwealth Public Servant. She started as an ASO1 and worked her way up to an Executive Level 1 position. Her final postion was with the Australian Taxation Office and has primarily worked in Recruitment and Payroll as a team leader and manager, With her loving husband and two beautiful children by her side, as well as loving parents and siblings, Anabel was able to overcome challenges that came her way into her life. One of the many challenges was when in 2006 she had a heart operation to replace a heart valve but shortly after suffered a stroke that left half her body paralysed But with the encouragement and strong love from her family she overcame that challenge. She was to have 2 more open heart surgeries and numerous other minor surgeries. Bravely she faced them all head on. They later moved into a proper house in Young Street, Carrington. Next move was to 111 Jenner Parade, Hamilton South. After marrying Joy was blessed with 7 children : Victor, Barry, Glynis, Darrel, Graham, Neil and John Following photo taken in 1961 before Joy and her young gang joined Vic Kearns in Perth, WA for a "new" start after rocky times in their marriage. ![]() Victor, Darrel, Elsie, Glynis, Graham, Barry, Henry, Neil, Joy and John They lived at 66 Mars Street, Carlise. The problems in the marriage continued and Joy eventually after 2 years fled with her kids back to Newcastle, NSW. Joy and the kids were split up for a short while with some living with her sister Fay's family at Windale. Vic, followed Joy back to Newcastle and after a time Joy agreed to a reconciliation with Vic. They lived at 41 Dumaresq Street, Hamilton South. However, Vics problems with alcohol and gambling only got worse and acts of violence on his part put an end to the marriage for good. Joy was left to do almost all the parenting of her 7 children with her husband Vic having serious alcohol and gambling addictions, and her marriage ended in divorce in 1965. On a positive note, after the divorce Vic started attending AA and managed successfully to beat his alcohol addiction. This photo was taken at 17 Gordon Street, Mayfield where Joy lived with her children after the divorce.
